I really don;t get the value of adding spam to the forum for points.

Well, if this forum section is created specifically so that people can get coins, then I think it's a good idea for people to spam in one specific place, which is here. It's better than when users in all branches and sections of the site write meaningless comments to accumulate these coins.
In any case, 100 coins is very good.
